Miles strung up on a wire

Spider-Man Lives: A Miles Morales Story

By Chad Horn on November 14th, 2015

Miles Morales movie posterI'm a big, big comic book movie fan - I'll admit it. So when I was looking for a project to shoot last summer, something to test our limits and give us the opportunity to try something new, so when the script landed in front of me I lept at the chance to make a Spider-Man fan film about Miles Morales. I'm also so very pleased it is on its way to becoming quite the online hit.

For those of you who don’t know, young Miles Morales took up the mantle of Spider-Man after Peter Parker is killed in one Marvel storyline. When it was announced that Spider-Man was going to make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, many fans hoped Miles would make it to the big screen. It soon became clear that wasn’t going to happen (Marvel cast a new, 17-year-old Peter Parker in mid-2015), so the Bard Tales team sprang into action along with Lucky 9 Studios to bring Spider-Man Lives: A Miles Morales Story to life.

Shortly after its launch it was clear it was a big hit with the fans. Collaborating with the local stunt team Misfits of Mayhem and utilizing stunt coordinator Jeff Wilhelm's wirework we really upped our "realistic fight scene" game. Watch the 9 minute short below, and if you’re curious to know how we made it, stick around after the film for a quick look behind-the-scene video.)

We’ve also gotten a lot of great press. Check it out:
Entertainment Weekly: "See Miles Morales swing into action in new Spider-Man fan film"
AV Club: "This fan-made Miles Morales short film will make you wish he was the new Spider-Man"
ComicBook.com: "Miles Morales Fan Film Released"
